From Strong and Ovington to Bill and Francis...

There are two very special friends to Rita and I - Bill and Francis Wysock of Monrovia, California.
Despite a distance of over 3000 miles, Bill and I have managed to keep in touch for years now and he
remains not only a friend but a real inspiration in seeing his work. He continues to build what are
truly considered to be the best modern Tesla Coils in the world.
It was originally one of two built by Earle L. Ovington, later given to Dr. Frederick Finch Strong.
Strong donated the coils to the Griffith Observatory - there was only room for one to be displayed.
Kenneth Strickfaden installed the unit. Decades later Bill Wysock restored it back to its original glory!
Bill also built two full-scale reproductions of this unit.
What an amazing photo!
He even built a mini version of the apparatus. For me this is the most appealing
Tesla Coil I have ever seen. It's a real work of art!
